The last enforcement tool for no wake zone violators are speed detecting signs. You have likely seen these types of signs before. Some of the more expensive models can even take a picture of the offender. This is a very aggressive form of policing by an association, we urge you to seek the advice of your legal counsel before embarking on sending speeding tickets to your owners. This option is also very labor-intensive for board or committee members, as someone needs to monitor the equipment, download the data, cross reference it with known vehicle information and then create letters. This process will likely be followed by a contentious and stressful hearing with the potential need for legal representation.


We have no great choices for enforcing our no wake zones. Well-crafted rules, letters and newsletter articles can play an impactful role. We are not going to be able to solve every problem, but aim to do the best we can for the community.


Consider finding creative ways to make people want to slow down and to make our communities more inviting.
