MEMBER NEWS CIFAC Rolls Out New Compliance App

By Michelle Tucker, CIFAC Executive Director In the late 1970s AGC, along with

several partners, identified the need to create a third-party compliance organization dedicated to preventing force account violations committed by public agencies. Tis third party would monitor and investigate the awarding agencies to ensure public works projects were competitively bid in a transparent and objective manner and performed by licensed contractors. In 1977, the Construction Industry

Force Account Council (CIFAC) was born. AGC has been a supporting and working partner for 40 years, and we look forward to many more years of partnership. We worked together to support

funding from SB 1 and again to ensure that funding would stay in place by

the defeat of Prop 6. We saw the passage of local tax initia- tives to fund road improvements, utility and building projects. With these projects comes the need for continuous monitoring. Good news: I’m

happy to report that CIFAC recently

introduced a brand-new violation reporting application that can be downloaded onto any cell phone or mobile device. It’s compatible with Apple iphones, and android mobile devices. With more projects in sight,

CIFAC’s leadership saw the need for more boots on the ground and eyes in

the field. “KwikCompli” was a created to make that happen. Te new user- friendly app has many features that help our members make sure that local and statewide public works projects are being put out to bid the right way. With the app, it’s possible for

CIFAC staff to provide quick responses to possible violations and keep an eye on public agencies for compliance with bidding laws – so it makes perfect sense that the name of the App is “KwikCompli.” You can get it easily by searching

for KwikCompli or CIFAC. I encourage you to try it. It includes the ability to pinpoint the jobsite via GPS, send photographs, maximize data input opportunities and allow CIFAC’s regional compliance managers (RCM) to communicate back to you with ease.
