Vice President Mike Blach Mike Blach has led Blach
Construction for the past 28 years and recently moved from President to his new role as Chairman of the Board of the 47-year-old company that builds commercial, industrial and institutional projects throughout the Bay Area and Central Coast. Blach has been active in AGC of
California for almost three decades. He has served on the local Santa Clara District board for more than 20 years, including as Chair; on the Awards Committee for a number of years, including as Chair; and for more than 10 years on the Building Division and State Boards, including as Vice Chair and then Chair. He was Treasurer in 2017. Blach also has been engaged in
numerous leadership positions in his community. He has been a board member and president of the board of several leading charities, including

Feedback from the survey pointed
to four main areas that AGC members wanted us to focus on: leadership (65% said this was important), safety (61% indicated it was important), project management (58%), and communication (50%). Tese results lined up with previous member feedback regarding the need for strong workforce development programs. We want to make sure our

Treasurer Dina Kimble Dina Kimble is currently President
and a partner in Royal Electric Company, Sacramento. She started with the company as a project manager over 19 years ago. Kimble holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management from Arizona State University, and a Master of Business Administration from UC Davis. She has an array of expertise from marketing and sales, accounting and financial analysis, to operations, human resources, and compliance and risk management. In addition to her role in AGC of

Tailoring Training to Meet the Needs
Another question in the October
survey asked members why they didn’t attend more AGC of California training programs. A little more than half responded that training wasn’t offered in their area and that the time commitment was too great. Follow-up conversations with some members and AGC regional managers confirmed these results. Based on this feedback, we worked on developing a new training and workforce development strategy to better serve member needs. California is a big state, and time

Immediate Past President Mike Mencarini
Mike Mencarini began his career
in the construction industry with Harbison Mahoney Higgins, Inc. in 1987 after obtaining a bachelor of science degree in construction management from California State University Sacramento. He joined Unger Construction Co. in 2001 and moved up the ranks to his current position as President of the company. Mencarini has served on the
board of AGC of California’s Delta Sierra District since 2007. He chaired the Building Division and Awards Committee in 2012 and Chaired the Construction Education Foundation in 2013 and 2014 among other roles in AGC. He has also been active with the City of Sacramento as a commis- sioner on the Development Oversight Commission, on the Northern California Carpenters Board of Trustees and with the philanthropic arm of Sutter Roseville Medical Center.

We are also developing new training that will be available via webinar, so that members will be able to attend training programs from their computer or smart device rather than needing to drive to a location.
