AGC of California Hosts Successful 2017 CLC Leadership Conference

Conference took place at the Los Angeles Biltmore Hotel November 16-17. Tis historic location served as the perfect back drop for AGC’s record high attendance for a CLC conference. Nearly 280 participants, representing 36 AGC chapters from across the nation, attended. Te conference officially kicked

off on Tursday, November 16 with keynote speaker Scott Zimmer informing everyone that this was the first time in American history where there are four generations in the workforce at one time. Each gener- ation has different points of view and work styles, based on what was going on in society while they were growing up. In what was to be the main thrust of the conference, Zimmer spoke about how the different genera- tions can better communicate with

each other and avoid potential pitfalls. Following
the opening session, attendees had the opportunity to network, discuss recruitment/ retention strategies with other CLC chapters from across the nation, and learn how to motivate people. Te evening ended with an AGC of California- hosted reception. Friday’s keynote speaker, Eric

McElvenny, regaled participants with inspirational stories about his time as a U.S. Marine, his life, and running an Ironman triathlon. He was followed up by sessions detailing how to succeed in the construction industry and a “Leaders and Legends” session. Te 2017 Leadership Development Conference ended with participants selecting from one of two job-walks.
