Bill Owen and Terry Tompson join a growing list of retired bankers and current bank board directors serving in the Missouri General Assembly.


Sen. Justin Brown is a director of the regional advisory board for The Bank of Missouri, headquartered in Perryville. He represents District 16 in the Senate, which includes Camden, Pulaski, Phelps, Crawford and Dent counties. Elected in 2018, Brown previously worked as a commercial 


 family farm.


Sen. Sandy Crawford enjoyed a 30-year career with  Today, she represents District 28 in the Missouri Senate, which is comprised of Benton, Cedar, Dallas, Hickory, Laclede, Pettis, Polk and St. Clair counties. Elected to the Senate in August 2017, Crawford served four terms in the Missouri House of Representatives, winning elections in 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016.


Sen. Dan Hegeman is an advisory member of the board of directors for Farmers State Bank in Cameron. Hegeman was elected in 2014 to represent District 12, which encompasses 15 counties in northwest Missouri: Andrew, Atchison, Clay, Clinton, Daviess,


DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Mercer, Nodaway, Putnam, Sullivan and Worth. He previously served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 1991 to 2002.


Sen. David Schatz, a board member for Sullivan Bank, currently serves as president pro tem of the Senate. He represents District 26, which is Franklin and West St. Louis County. Elected to the Senate  previously served two terms in the Missouri House of Representatives. He won his  second term in 2012.


Bruce Sassman, advisory board member for Legends Bank in Linn, was elected in November 2020 to represent House District 62, which includes parts of Osage, Maries, Miller, Cole, Gasconade, Crawford and Phelps counties.


Travis Smith, board member of West Plains Savings and Loan, was elected in November 2020 to represent House District 155, which  counties and part of Taney County.
