EDUCATION & MARKETING

Ending 2020 With Anticipation, Hope for the New Year By Jackson Hataway, Executive Vice President of Communications, Marketing & Member Services

As we approach year-end, MBA’s education department worked diligently to make our 2020 virtual Executive Management Conference a meaningful and enjoyable experience for our bankers — and hopefully something we can all discuss in-person at the 2021 Executive Management Conference. We know everyone is tired from a long year filled with virtual meetings and webinars, but we also know that the page is finally turning on 2020. With incredibly positive news on the vaccine front, we feel more confident now than at any time in the past 10 months that the return to in-person events is on the horizon.

Our plan for 2021 will, of course, prioritize the health and well-being of our members and staff. Even with effective vaccines in play, there will be a significant period of 2021 in which we will still be wrestling with COVID-19. While we are excited about the opportunity to once again bring people together for educational and networking experiences, we are committed to doing so safely. We ask for your patience, feedback and engagement as we make our way toward a post-pandemic world.

What can you expect from MBA’s education offerings in 2021? First, it means we will continue to provide virtual education programming for your employees and staff in the New Year

and beyond. We will likely continue to grow virtual education offerings even aſter the pandemic given the accessibility it creates for our banks.

Second, as we bring in-person programs back in place, we intend to roll out hybrid event structures for some of our conferences and seminars that will allow for both physical and digital attendance. We will always prioritize bringing bankers together — that’s why we’re here for you. But, we also believe there are innovative ways to make our conferences more digitally accessible while creating special value for those attending in- person. Stay tuned for more on how this will work!

Tird, we will be working with banks to develop tailored training programs (virtual or in-person) to help them address specific needs while still managing any travel or event restrictions that may be in place. Te path past the virus may be quicker for some communities and banks than others. We intend to support our member banks no matter the timeline. Reach out to us at mba@mobankers.com to discuss how we can help your bank meet its training needs.

We look forward to serving you in 2021, and we can’t wait to see you face-to-face very soon!
