Around the State 50 Year Club Honorees 2022


The Missouri Bankers Association’s 50 Year Club honors bankers who have dedicated 50 years of service to the banking industry. MBA is pleased to recognize these bankers for their commitment to their customers and their communities.


Donald W. Brandt Director Citizens Bank, New Haven


Aſter graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1972, Don Brandt started his career at Citizens Bank of Pacific, his hometown bank. In 1988, Brandt was named president of Citizens Bank of New Haven. Te bank grew from $40 million to the current


asset total of $280 million, with four locations in New Haven, Pacific, Gerald and Washington. He serves on the board of directors as chairman of the holding company, Citizens Financial Group Inc. Brandt is proud to continue the growth of Citizens Bank as an independent community bank that is owned by shareholders in and around Franklin County.


He and his wife, Kathy, enjoy golfing and traveling to visit their two children and four grandchildren.


Richard D. Goppert 1931-2021 Goppert Financial Bank, Kansas City


Richard Goppert lived in the greater Kansas City area nearly all his life. In high school, he worked for his father at the Peoples State Bank of Dodson and the Peoples Credit Company. A U.S. veteran, Goppert graduated from the University of Kansas in Lawrence. He joined Suburban Bank when it opened in 1957. Goppert purchased Metropolitan Bank at 75th and Troost in Kansas

City in 1964. He later sold this bank and purchased Goppert Bank and Trust, which he then sold in 1985. Additional Missouri banks were added and later became Goppert Financial Bank, with locations in Pleasant Hill, Norborne, Lathrop, Holt and Lawson. He purchased the Garnett State Savings Bank in Kansas in 1999. Additional banks were acquired in Colony, Helpler, Walnut, Pomona, Ottawa, St. Paul and Girard, which have since merged into Goppert State Service Bank.


Goppert loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed sports, especially sailing, and listening to music.


Debra E. Jahnke Commercial Loan Coordinator Central Bank, St. Louis


Debra Jahnke began her banking career in September 1970 as a a teller at Carondelet Savings & Loan in Ferguson. During her career, she has been a proof operator and bookkeeper. Jahnke joined the loan department at Commerce Bank in 1984; she processed payments and draw requests before moving onto the documentation department. In June 1998, Jahnke was named loan department manager at Commercial Bank of Westport. In September 2004, she became assistant vice president loan administration for Superior Bank in Hazelwood. Since October 2015, Jahnke has served as commercial loan coordinator at the New Town branch of Central Trust Bank.


She and her husband have been married for 30 years and enjoy spending time with their daughter and three grandchildren.
