MBA Foundation Awards Five InternConnect Scholarships


The Missouri Bankers Foundation awarded five $1,000 scholarships to college students who were interns at Missouri banks in 2020.


These scholarships are the third to be awarded to students through the Missouri Bankers Association’s InternConnect program.


The MBA InternConnect Scholarship Program is designed to encourage college sophomores and juniors majoring in a banking-related discipline to explore careers in the Missouri banking industry.


“Banking internships give college students an opportunity to learn about our industry and elevate banking as a rewarding career path,” said Max Cook, MBA president and CEO.


“Tis scholarship is another opportunity to alleviate college expenses for future bankers.”


MBA congratulates the following winners.


Sydney Berghaus was an intern at First State Community Bank in Farmington in the summer of 2020. Her supervisor was Ben Wasson, vice president of First State Community Bank. Berghaus is studying agribusiness management at the University of Missouri — Columbia and will graduate in May 2022.


Molly Forsythe was an intern at Central Bank in Jefferson City in the summer of 2020. Her supervisor was Emily Kampeter, vice president of government accounts at Central Bank. Forsythe is studying economics at Arizona State University in Tempe and will graduate in May 2023.


David Grant was an intern at Enterprise Bank & Trust in St. Louis in the summer of 2020. His supervisor was Robin Hunsinger, assistant vice president, business banking sales and support team lead at Enterprise Bank & Trust. Grant is studying accounting at Missouri State University in Springfield and will graduate in May 2022.


Ryan Kleffner was an intern at Central Bank in Jefferson City in the summer of 2020. His supervisor was Arlene Vogel, vice president of commercial banking services at Central Bank. Kleffner is studying finance at Rockhurst University in Kansas City and will graduate in May 2022.


Lyndsey Parker was an intern at Te Bank of Salem in the summer of 2020. Her supervisor was John Casey, senior vice president of Te Bank of Salem.

Parker is studying agriculture business, finance and management at Missouri State University in Springfield. She graduated in December 2020 and will graduate with her master’s in May 2022.

Achievements


Cory Ross was promoted to senior vice president, retail operations officer for Branson Bank. Ross oversees the bank’s retail products and services and manages retail personnel, and his duties have expanded to include strategic planning and implementation at the organizational level. He has been with Branson Bank for five year and has more than 10 years of retail banking experience.


Central Bank in Jefferson City named Abbey Gober as branch manager of both its Walmart locations. Employed by the bank in various positions since 2014, Gober most recently served as the assistant branch manager at the Central Motor Bank.

Joselyn Baldner was named president and chief operating officer of Central Bank of the Ozarks in Springfield. Baldner is the organization’s first female leader in its 64-year history, as well as the first female bank president for the parent holding company Central Bancompany.
