main purpose for “Many Rhythms, One Prayer/ Diversos Ritmos, Una Oración” was to bring people around the table to talk, learn, and make music together. Although many pastoral musicians (Hispanic and non-Hispanic) share the same parish, it is very common for them not to be acquainted with each other, much less collaborate. Tis can lead to divisions among the community of pastoral musicians, and even false judgements or a misunderstanding of the “other” culture. Because the goal was to bring communities together, this workshop had to be bilingual, without separating into groups. Our speaker had to be someone who could relate to both Hispanics and Anglos and had a deep understanding of both cultures and music ministries. Hence, the right candidate to craft and deliver this workshop for us was Mr. Peter Kolar.
