FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

a year ago, I was ending my time at Georgetown University Medical Center, while focusing on writing my dissertation proposal and planning travel. Just a month later, our lives were turned upside down.

A

One of my favorite aspects of our faith is its duality: static and dynamic. It has been static—rooted in tradition—for 2,000 years and yet dynamic, with the body of Christ responding to the needs of the world around it. Tis imagery is apropos for NPM. For nearly 50 years, we have remained true to our mission of fostering the art of musical liturgy. And now, we look to a collaborative future, meeting the needs of our members and our Church in new ways.

I arrived at NPM when the work of so many was coming to fruition. By now, I hope you are familiar with our Forums, focused on ministerial and operational aspects at the core of NPM. Te Forums work collaboratively with the National Staff to execute the initiatives of our Association. Additionally, they serve as a valuable resource for advice and direction in strategic areas. If you are interested in serving on a Forum, please reach out to the National Office or directly to the Forum leader. You can find our email addresses at npm.org.

s I write this letter to you, our NPM membership, I am beginning my sixth week with NPM! It seems hard to believe that

Our streamlined membership structure reflects countless hours of work and has simplified many tiers into three levels which best represent our members’ roles. Tere are terrific benefits at each level and I’m so glad I became a member last fall so that I could learn first-hand of the programming and resources available to members. My only regret is that I didn’t join sooner!

Our newly refreshed website captures the spirit of NPM so well! I’m delighted to see many of our members represented in its images. Our Spanish language resources are growing, and we will fortify these in the coming months. If you are a native speaker and would like to review our translations, let us know.

I’m happy to share more about my background in this issue of Pastoral Music. I look forward to meeting many of you this summer at Skill Builders in Reno, NV and at our National Convention in New Orleans, LA. In the meantime, if you’d like me to visit your chapter via Zoom, please reach out to me! My door and inbox are always open to you! Write to me at director@npm.org.

In our never-ending Easter song, Alleluia!

Jennifer Kluge Executive Director director@npm.org
