Where Are You Plowing? T
By Rev. Dr. Kyle E. Sims
his year the Moderator’s challenge is from Luke 9:62, “Jesus said to him, ‘No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.’” In farming, there are different types
of plows that do particular jobs. You must use the right plow for the right job. The plow for Gospel ministry is different than the plow for a non- profit or a CEO of a business. It is easy for us to get led astray by seeking quick hacks or techniques
to grow our churches. Gospel ministry that is effective and long-lasting comes only from hard work. The hand must be to the Gospel plow, and we must maintain a long-term Gospel ministry. This year I turned 50 years old, and I have finished my 22nd year of or-
dained ministry. I find myself, God willing, in the middle of my ministry. Reflecting on ministry over these years, I see several areas of emphasis as we keep our hand to the Gospel plow.
