When Life Turns JAY YOUNTS Synod Vice Moderator W
hen Life Turns Upside-Down was written in the Spring of 2020, shortly after the early impact
of the virus. The lockdowns were begin- - cial implications were just beginning to be realized. The nationwide unrest and vio-
lence had not yet begun. 2020 still had much more to bring to our lives. This short book was written to anticipate the reality that what appears abnor- mal and upside-down to us, is actually the purpose and plan of God unfolding before our eyes. God is committed to bringing about life to those whom he has called. As Isaiah declares his ways are not our ways. What matters is that the message of the gospel is spread. All of the events of life, whether expected or unexpected, are the work of God in some way bringing honor to his name. Colossians tells us that Jesus directs all things for the glory of his Father, just as God used Cyrus to bring about his will according Isaiah 45. - suring message for Christians is that since God is for us and nothing can separate us from the love of Christ, is that when things appear to be upside-down they are in actual fact right-side up. We know not what 2021 will bring, except that we have the certain promise of God that he will do whatever he has planned to bring honor to his great Name and bring more into the Kingdom of his glorious Son, Jesus.
