Ever After Ever After


 it isn’t necessarily how God has it planned out. Steve and Laurie Cales, members of the Lauderdale ARP Church in Lexington, VA, found out they were not going to be able conceive a child. They had hopes of having their own children. The year this little girl, we will call her Ann, was born was the same year Laurie had a miscarriage. In August of 2017, The Cales took “Ann” into their home and then adopted her three years later. It was a bittersweet day for them because it was also the day the pandemic changed their lives.


Twisted Roots photography, a local photographer, came to their house the day of the adoption. “Ann” came home on the bus that - loons and a sign that emerged welcoming her to her forever home. “She has been a blessing to us and we can’t thank God enough for making our dreams come true! We will be coming up on our one- year anniversary of the adoption in March,” Laurie said.


With Covid restrictions the adoption celebration was held at the Lauderdale ARP Church in November of 2020 which is also National Adoption Month! 27 people attended this special occa- sion and wore a mask. After 1,894 days in Foster Care “Ann” was 
