  The priority of the life of the church requires that church members be engaged and involved both locally in congrega- tions, and in the larger church. Elders who serve as delegates to Presbytery and Synod, along with ministers, need to beat the drum in our local congregations regarding opportunities for service on committees. None should be content to  -  we need willing, eager representatives from all of our churches who will commit themselves to the service of the larger church. Our committees and agencies need the input that comes from churches that are at the heart of who we histori-  - ing too much. They act out of necessity because there are not enough laborers stepping up. That is healthy neither for   in deed and in truth. -   
