How Beekeeping Became a Ministry

I
t is no secret that bees play a major role in our food production. They are responsible for approximately 60% of the crops we need to survive. Without bee pollination, the world food supply is at risk. So naturally beekeepers are in demand all over the globe. As the president of my local Beekeepers Association and member of Shiloh ARP Church, I have taught over 300 beginner beekeepers basic skills over the past six years. It is at these classes that true miracles began to take shape. Unbeknownst to me, I had a new student come in with more than beekeeping in mind. Their goal was to use the art of beekeeping to spread God’s message overseas. My new student, who was a part of an organization that uses the resourcefulness of beekeeping to gain access to areas where the word of God is limited, approached me in need of an experienced beekeeper to train their em- ployees. They would need training with advanced bee- excited to bring together the need for beekeeping and my devotion to the Lord into a single mission. With a plan in action, the only thing we needed to be successful was a training location and a full-time instructor. Thankfully my church allowed the use of their facilities without hesi- tation and another member of the Lancaster Beekeepers Association worked tirelessly to set the wheels of prog- ress in motion. Countless hours have already been spent educating and training the men and women who would serve as God’s crusaders. The Bible says in Ephesians 3:20 “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty than we might ask or think”. It was not an easy task, how- ever, the reward of bringing others to Christ pushes us Three years later the mission has taken root and is rap- idly expanding.
