the president’s message Dear CAI Friends,
2020 has turned out to be a very challenging year for many of us as our nation has come to a near standstill over a virus that has sent not only our country, but the entire world into a state of panic and fear of the future never before seen on a scale this large.
Economies have been negatively impacted, many people are out of work, schools are closed, large scale events are non-existent, and yet, we must continue to manage our families, pay our bills, and for those of us that still have jobs, find a way to work remotely.
Every day I am hearing of new reg- ulations and procedures put into place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Ideas are being
tossed around as to how we might begin to re-open our country and the new “normal” that we can expect as we begin to loosen the social distancing requirements. Te uncertainty of our future is quite scary.
Personally, I am so incredibly thankful for my in- volvement in CAI California North Chapter dur- ing this time. Our small community has banded together to create an environment of camarade- rie, helpfulness, and solidarity. I have thoroughly enjoyed the Chapter Chats and Coffee Breaks via video conferencing and look forward to the new and innovative ways that we will be connecting and learning during this time.
In a weird way, I feel that I have gotten to know my CAI friends on a different level, often getting a glimpse into their homes, and seeing their children
and pets as they inevitably appear in range of the camera during these conferences. It has created a new level of insight into people that I once viewed only as business associates. It has allowed me to see people more as “people”. It has been a growing experience for me in a way that may have never hap- pened without the coronavirus.
I don’t know what the rest of this year will bring.
I’m not sure I’ll
have another opportunity to speak in front of you at a luncheon or social event.
I don’t know what
our events will look like when we are permitted to hold them again. What I do know, is that I’ve wit- nessed the amazing and uplifting spirit of our chapter members as they have come together to sup- port our chapter and each other.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank the many business partners that have so very generously donated their sponsorships in order to help support our chapter through this year.
this type of generosity and partnership that makes our chapter so remarkable.
We are in this together, we will get through this. You are, we are: ONE COMMUNITY.
Stay
healthy my friends, and as always, if I can be of service to you in any way, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
At your service,
Jennifer Richardson Chapter President Te California North Chapter of CAI
