Simply Revitalized 6 tips for refreshing your facilities

As you consider ways to remove distractions, I’ve found these simple tips can help refresh your facility.

1. Create a culture of examining feedback. Invite guests to scan a QR code to fill out a survey at the end of every stay, indicating where they stayed, if they identified any issues and offer both positive and negative comments. Staff can utilize a Google form that immediately adds issues to a facilities database, allowing teams to keep tabs on projects.

2. Hire a “secret shopper” to come in, stay at your facility as a guest and offer feedback on their experience.

3. Get creative when shopping for furniture and fixtures. Many hotel chains update their accommodations every five to seven years, and they often have dozens of matching pieces available for pennies on the dollar. Local liquidators or building companies may also have items no longer needed that they may be willing to part with cheaply.

4. Communicate with your audiences. If you winterize something for the season, post a sign by that facility explaining why it’s closed or out of order. For example, people will understand why an outdoor water fountain isn’t working in December rather than thinking it’s broken.

5. Create a short- and long-term plan. Updates cannot be done all at once. Take a look at the next six or 12 months of your guest calendar, weather and staff commitments and consider when you may be able to do a few updates to a certain building at a specific time.

6. Deep clean everything! Deep cleaning is one of the cheapest ways to make a space feel rejuvenated. When was the last time your baseboards, ceiling fans, window blinds, tops of doors, closets and other hidden spots were cleaned?
