FROM THE KVMA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Greetings KVMA Members,
As I write this letter, we are knee deep in Mid-America Conference prepa- ration. Te first thing that I want to express is the KVMA will take every precaution necessary to bring all attendees a safe and enjoyable confer- ence. Hopefully by now you have received the registration packet for your review. Please also visit the KVMA website at
www.kvma.org that contains detailed information on every aspect of the conference.
Dr. Debra Shoulders/KVMA President, Dr. Jason Rodgers/KVMA Presi- dent-elect and Program Chair along with the KVMA Board have worked very hard to create an exceptional conference with presenters known nationally and internationally. Tere are wonderful networking events planned throughout the conference for attendees to catch up with old friends and meet new ones along with supporting our many industry sponsors and exhibitors. Te Galt House looks beautiful as it has been through a complete remodel.
When reviewing the conference material, please keep in mind the presentations that your veterinary asso- ciates, office staff and technicians may find educational and could help with the overall wellbeing of your practice.
Here are a few items that I would like to bring to your attention:
• KVMA Power of Ten Leadership program is now open for applicants. Tis has been a highly successful program and several graduates of the program are now involved with the KVMA Board, Foundation and Committees. Te new class will kick off at the MAVC conference. Please see the informational flier and application within this newsletter.
• Te KVMA Animal Hall of Fame is seeking those animals that have done something so special and recognizable and will be awarded at the KVMA Business and Awards luncheon during the MAVC con- ference. Applications to submit are within this newsletter.
• Networking activities at the MAVC! o Friday evening – Join all your colleagues for an evening of fun listening and dancing to the popular Archie Dean Harris Band! Tere will appetizers and a cash bar, no charge for the event!
o Saturday evening – Power of Ten alumni and young professionals networking social hour! Meet new friends, see your colleagues, and talk about what is relevant and important to you and your career!
• Te KVMA Foundation will have its ever popular silent and live auction throughout the conference! • Te KVMA Foundation Clay Shoot is scheduled for Wednesday, October 6th at Elk Creek Hunt Club & Resort. You may contact the KVMA office and reserve your spot for your team. It is always a great day of fun topped off by a great luncheon!
In closing, if you have not been to a KVMA conference for a few years, please consider it for 2021. Please consider being involved and supporting your state association. Te KVMA works very hard to meet your needs, support our state advocacy efforts and help make a positive difference for our veterinary community.
We look forward to seeing everyone in person after a trying time; it is time to celebrate our small successes and milestones. Please reach out to the KVMA Office with any questions that you may have.
Respectfully,
Debra Hamelback, KVMA Executive Director
