DR. GEORGE D. BROWN (1937 - 2021) Dr. George D. Brown, age 83 of Elkton, passed away on May 14, 2021, at his res- idence of natural causes.


Dr. Brown was born in Logan County, Ky., December 21, 1937. He was a graduate of Olmstead High School and the University of Kentucky with a Pre Vet Degree and a graduate of Auburn University where he received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Brown operated the Todd County Animal Clinic from 1964 through 2010. He was inducted into the Farm House Fraternity Kentucky Chapter at the University of Kentucky in 1957. He served on the Todd County Water District from 1971-2021 where he was chairman and as Director of Pennyrile Rural Electric Corporation from September 29, 1987 through 2018.


Dr. Brown was named in Who’s Who of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. He was Past President of Western Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association, President of Senior Veterinary of Auburn University Class of 1963, and he also served on Elkton Bank and Trust Board from 1989 to 2020. Dr. Brown did missionary work in Guatemala in 1973. Other ventures included co-owner of and operator of Brown’s Tobacco Ware- house in Russellville, Ky., and as a commissioner for the Logan Todd Regional Water Board .


Dr. Brown was a faithful member of Elkton Baptist Church where he served as deacon for 25 years. He is preceded in death by his parents Tomas Benjamin Brown Sr. and Virginia Dawson Brown, his brother Tommy Brown and his sister Jane Sweatt. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty R. Brown, of Elkton, his son Dan Brown (Karen) of Tuscaloosa, AL, daughters Jo Lynn McKee of Frankfort, KY, Jenny Sapp (John L.) 0f Guthrie, Ky., and Jill Wyatt (Mark) also of Guthrie, Ky., brother Bradley Brown of Russellville, KY, 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Te family asks that donations be given to Sunrise Children’s Services, 300 Hope Rd., P.O. Box 1429, Mt. Washington, KY 40047. 
