“Conservation, primarily. We focus a lot on conserving water. All of our water comes from the North Platte, which is runoff from the mountains. is year, we had to conserve more water because we are anticipating a lower amount of water next year. ”

“I would say top of mind for many growers is the price of commodities. Along with that, they are concerned about trade issues and how the United States is going to finally resolve trade disputes with their huge customer — China — and how that dispute will affect the future of trade from this country. And, there are things they can’t do anything about — that would be the weather. Drought in Missouri was a huge concern for farmers this past growing season.”
TOM STEEVER | BROWNFIELD AG NEWS, JEFFERSON CITY, MISSOURI
“Milk price is the biggest issue for a lot of the growers in my area because they are dairy farmers and grow their own forage. ey have to use a lot of irrigation to do that because we have very light soil in our part of the state. We are on the largest frac sand deposit in the world, so we have a lot of irrigation. For our dairy farmers, it’s all about the milk price, and that is what they talk about all the time.”
