A pressure differential switch continuously senses the pressure differential across the filter screen. The pressure differential switch initiates the cleaning cycle of the filter screen when the filter cake causes a pressure differential of 7 psi.

One of the benefits of automatic screen filtration is the smaller amounts of flush water used to clean the screen.

What should you look for in a

water filtration system? When comparing different filters, there are many factors to consider.

FILTER CLEANING & MONITORING

Do you have the time or money to manually clean water filters? If not, a reliable self-cleaning filter is desirable. With a mobile-monitored controller, either you or the machine can trigger the self- cleaning mechanism.

FILTER DURABILITY

What is the filter housed in? Does it use screen filters? The best screen filters have a corrosion-free polymeric housing and internal parts. Combined with self-cleaning technology, these polymeric filters offer long-term durability. For options including multiple screens, you are ensured a better filtration system. Both coarse and fine screens are effective for filtering and can be automatically flushed.

WATER & POWER CONSUMPTION

It’s crucial that the filter you choose is cost- effective. Durable water filtration systems with self-cleaning mechanisms are cost-effective as they decrease downtime and use less water and power. Water filters that use a hydraulic turbine methodology generally use less power, which can save money.

CAN IT HANDLE LOW PRESSURE?

The last thing you want is vacuum formation and other disruptions in your well water filtering system. Most automatic filters require a minimum of 30 psi for a proper cleaning of the filter element.

By focusing on these factors, you’ll find a water filter for your irrigation system that not only knows how to handle the clogging factors found in well water, but is also low maintenance, cost-effective and user friendly.

There is more than one way to protect your irrigation system from clogging, but the best way is to prevent it.
