IAVM Stands Strong on Inclusiveness & Providing Harassment-Free Work Environment

Inclusiveness IAVM member- ship is becoming more diverse than recent years. For


   than a decade, there has been a push for gender equality. At Venue Management School, we have -


tending the school, with 48% attendance in


2017. This is good news on numbers, but we still have an inequality in compensation, and this took many years to accomplish. IAVM and our members need to be diligent in becoming more inclusive in areas   students.


Our members’ venues serve diverse communities, and it is prudent


 mirror the diversity within the community we serve. Not just the over- all make-up, but all levels of the organization’s positions from the top  concept will better position member venues to be successful. To further these principles, IAVM volunteers have implemented


multiple programs and initiatives that further our values of inclusive- ness: • A new management committee named Diversity and Inclu-


sive Leadership, chaired by Julia Slocombe, Vice President of Smart           CVE, hosted a reception for diversity during VC2017 in Nashville, which raised $20,000 for your Foundation and have been earmarked to focus on the committee’s key initiatives and guiding a diverse group   communities our venues serve. • At VC17, sessions including Women in Leadership, The Gender
