EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S TURF Members Are The Mission
Casey Reynolds, PhD
We have been working diligently in recent weeks to compile the 2025-26 TPI Membership Directory. As I stare at and examine the rows and rows of spreadsheets of members, farms, states, countries, etc. I can’t help but recognize the many great people I’ve gotten to know over the last eight years in my time at TPI. Seeing everyone each year in our TPI Membership Directory is absolutely refreshing and is an annual reminder of why we do what we do at TPI.
I ask myself at the end of every week, “What did I do this week that served our members?” It can be answering phones or emails, working on laws or regulations, planning a conference, creating new or updated publications, and so on, but whatever the case may be, I always try to stay member-focused.
If you read TPI’s new strategic plan that is now posted on our website, you’ll even see that “Member-Focused” is one of our Core Values, along with Relationships, Leadership, Advocacy, Integrity, and Innovation. Tese are all core values that in one way or another are designed to serve our members, and we have aligned our internal processes to make sure our staff and board are adopting these daily.
It also has goals and strategies that we have dedicated ourselves to working towards. Tey include, in short, Increasing TPI and TLI Brand Awareness, Advocating for Natural Grass, Enhancing Member Value and Engagement, and Ensuring Functional and Financial
Stability while Planning for Growth. We will continually report on these goals and strategies in future issues of Turf News, and we welcome any and all input from our members on how we achieve our mission.
Our new strategic plan is the road map that continually keeps us on course for serving our members. It has many goals and strategies for us to strive for, and if you take a look at them, you’ll likely see they are designed to keep us active and productive as we implement the plan over the next three to five years. Regardless of what we do though, it is our members that always remain the focus.
If you have any ideas of things we can do locally, nationally, or internationally to better serve you, please contact us directly. We can add it to our list under one or more of the goals and strategies stated in our strategic plan and will work to achieve it.
As always, please log into your TPI Member Profile on our website or call our office to make sure you are making the most out of our new TPI membership model with employee listings, grasses, Turf News magazines, and more. In the meantime, please enjoy this issue of Turf News, and we hope to see you at a future TPI event! Maybe even next February 15-19 in Tucson, Arizona!
Cheers,
Seeing everyone each year in our TPI Membership Directory is absolutely refreshing and is an annual reminder of why we do what we do at TPI.
