ETP SEMINARS AND TURF EXPO— A RECAP FROM HOLLAND
Te immaculate fields at Direct Gazon near Ysselsteyn prove to be an excellent venue for the ETP Turf Expo.
Te European Turfgrass Producers (ETP) held the 2017 ETP Seminars & Turf Expo on September 28 and 29 in the Netherlands. Dr. Casey Reynolds, Turfgrass Producers International (TPI) Executive Director, attended this event representing TPI.
Reynolds reports, “Over 150 attendees were present for educational seminars held at the Hotel Asteria in Venray, Netherlands, with even more present the next day for the Turf Expo.
“Delegates were treated to an afternoon of seminars from industry-leading speakers including Bernd Leinauer of Wageningen University and New Mexico State University, Nicolas Evans of FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association), Fabio Travaini of Tarkett Desso, ETP Social Media Manager Eef Dijkstra, and TPI Executive Director Casey Reynolds,” ETP President Tim Fell reports.
“Tis was an opportunity for us to connect with ETP as well as some of our international members, and it was great to see them at this event,” says Reynolds. “I was able to interact with growers and vendors from Germany, Italy,

Holland, Russia, Ukraine, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, the United Kingdom, the United States, and more all in one place. We share the same goals as ETP of growing the turfgrass production industry and doing everything we can to promote and assist our respective members.”
Te Turf Expo continued the following day at a nearby Direct Gazon sod farm where, as ETP’s Fell reports, “Under blue skies and temperatures in the high 70s, more than 400 attendees from 24 countries came together to see the latest in turf machinery and seeds. Harvesters, mowers, vacs, and cultivation machinery were all put through their paces on the immaculate fields at Direct Gazon near Ysselsteyn, courtesy of Rob Bruin.”
Fell goes on to say, “It’s a great time to be a turf grower in Europe. Few industries offer a product that provides so much pleasure to customers and, at the same time, makes such a positive contribution to the environment. ETP is all about getting growers together to talk about the opportunities, and the challenges, that we face. Te success of the Seminars and Turf Expo demonstrates the vibrant nature of turf production in Europe.”
