Updates on Resources RESOURCES


As you probably know by now, the delegates at last


year’s Annual Meeting approved a new Vision State- ment for our Fellowship: “Strengthening our churches with timely resources that strengthen their leaders.”


We have been working hard this year to fulfill this


new vision and have recently begun releasing new or revised resources to strengthen our churches. These resources will be released under the new “Resourc- es” logo above. Here in the Fellowship Focus, we will highlight the work that we are doing and the specific resources that have been released.


One of our first goals with resource development


was to evaluate some of the needs that have been expressed by our church leaders. This information has come formally and informally through surveys, group discussions, and individual conversations. But our most pressing need seemed kind of obvious. At this time, almost one fourth of our churches are seeking a new lead pastor! With this knowledge, we set about to revise a resource we have had for some time: the FEBC Pastor Search Kit.


The Pastor Search Kit can be extremely valuable,


because many of our churches have not needed to hire a new pastor in several years. Often, the leaders who were in place the last time a church sought a pastor have been replaced by others who have never


experienced the search process. The FEBC Pastor Search Kit is designed to walk someone through the process of hiring a new pastor, even if he or she has no experience at all.


The existing kit was well done, but we examined


every detail, finding that some information was out of date, some could use improvement, and we modern- ized the overall design. We are very pleased by the final product.


The FEBC Pastor Search Kit includes an introduc-


tion to the process, a step-by-step guide for conduct- ing a pastor search, and several valuable appendices, including questionnaires for the congregation, sample questions for an interview, a list of recommended col- leges and seminaries with up-to-date contact informa- tion, and more.


As with every one of our resources, this kit

We pray that this tool will be useful in the hands


of our churches, and that God will bless the various search teams that are working to fill these positions. May He be glorified in all that we do!
