BULLS ABOVE THE CLOUDS!

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT BINDS THE READERSANDCONTRIBUTORS of La Vita magazine together is our love and passion for the brand of Automobili Lamborghini. Most of us own or admire one of the great machines from the ultimate car factory in Sant'Agata Bolognese. We know that the Lamborghini experience transcends the admiration of the car’s artistry and the thrill of driving it. Sharing these rolling works of art with the public and becoming a part of that response is a great thing as well.
Seeing just one of these cars driving on the street is often a remark- able feat for the public. The opportunity to gaze on a few of these ma- chines together is wondrous. But to see 20 or more of these cars together is jaw-dropping. Therefore, to take part in the Lamborghini Giro – sharing these cars with fellow drivers, fans, and the public – is an ex- traordinary experience for everyone, participants and public alike. Through the event, Lamborghini has striven not only to demon- strate the artwork of these machines, but to also to showcase the road and the lifestyle that is Lamborghini. For many years and on several continents, the Lamborghini Giro is an event where its owners can come together and share the passion of these machines. This summer’s Lamborghini Giro 2015, New England was no exception. From the misty, rocky shores of Maine’s Atlantic coast… to the rugged White Mountains at the top of New England… over to the Green Mountains of Vermont… and then to the Beantown of Boston, the 2015 Lamborghini Giro was a real Bull ride. This year, more than 20 drivers, guests, and cars came to the Inn by the Sea in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. The guests were welcomed and given their itinerary as well as a
custom-covered Lambo iPad with all of the information and routes of the trip pre-programmed into it. After a great dinner and an evening’s rest, we departed to the northwest, heading for Mount Washington. As we passed through many typical New England towns, cameras were rolling and heads were turning everywhere our caravan of V-10 and V-12 Lamborghinis went. A highlight occurred when we entered the town of North Conway in New Hampshire. Hundreds of people heard we were coming, and they lined both sides of the street waving Lamborghini flags and cheering on the cars as we paraded through the downtown area.
Then we continued to turn our cars north, ending up at the base of the Mount Washington Auto Road. One by one, we drove up to the summit of the “Rockpile,” eight miles of paved and dirt road. When our cars reached the highest point in the northeast, we parked them above the clouds. The summit is often the site of some of the worst weather in the world. In fact, it was the site of the highest surface wind speed ever observed by man – a 231mph gust of wind, only slightly faster than the Aventadors that were there. For us, however, the over- cast skies lifted to reveal an incredible view.
After enjoying the sights and touring the home of the Mount
Washington Observatory, we descended through the fresh air. We drove the cars down the side of the mountain, where they were greeted by the Lamborghini hospitality trailer serving lunch. After the respite and preparing for the afternoon drive, we trekked through a short, cool- ing rain before making our way to the Top Notch resort in Stowe, Ver- mont. Along the way we took the Kancamagus Pass for a spirited drive,
