EVEN WITH JUST TWO LAMBORGHINISAT THE EVENT THIS YEAR, THE BRAND HADA powerful presence at the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. On the prototype lawn, Automobili Lamborghini displayed their hybrid concept, the Asterion LPI 910- 4. This concept, which was first shown at the Paris Motor Show in 2014, made its North American debut. It first appeared the previous night at the Lamborghini Club private event and then was showcased to the public at the Sunday Pebble Beach event. The concept certainly drew the attention of everyone walking by the Prototype lawn, including Jay Leno, Adam Carolla, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, among other big name car enthusiasts. On the Concours lawn, in the Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera class, sat one of the 23 Lamborghini “Interim” 400GTs ever made – chassis # 0484; owned by Raphael Gabay of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Raphael had the only Lamborghini in the class, surrounded by other Italian makes that also used Touring bodies. Even though it was outnumbered by other makes, the Lamborghini commanded the strong presence it de- served and was the talk of the class much of the day. About midday, Adam Carolla and Matt D'Andria, co-hosts of the CarCast podcast, stopped by for some classic Lamborghini GT conversation (Adam is also a classic Lam- borghini owner). Shortly after, Lamborghini historian Jim Kaminski and fellow 400GT Interim owner Robert Ross stopped by as well and made for a great group conversation and review of Raphael’s car. The fellow owners went over the technical details that made the 400GT Interim different from the 350GT and 400GT 2+2 and then wished Raphael good luck with the judging before they departed to enjoy the rest of the event.
