nical data! This printed piece leaves no doubt that Lamborghini meant busi- ness from the start.

Swatch Book The few fortunate who could actually buy one of the 120 produced 350 GTs would at some point have been pre- sented with the task of selecting a color from the factory swatch book titled TONALITA ORIGINALI VETTURA (which translates in English to “origi- nal shades L 350GT automobile” – the L in the model code meaning Lam- borghini), unless they specified a non- standard color. The consumer would look through the various paint samples and picture their car in the color they found most appealing. Giving the col- ors names just added to the sensation: "Do you prefer your 350 GT in Verde Scuro or Blu Notte?" The selection as shown in this book contained samples for: Biancospino, Rosso Alfa, Argento, Grigio, Grigio S. Vincent, Verde Scuro, Azzurro, Blu Chiaro, Blu Notte, and Amaranto.

Postcard I can't imagine very many of the Miura postcards being mailed instead of collected, but I know I'd be thrilled if I pulled one out of my mailbox. Lamborghini sought new ways of pro- moting their cars, so they created a few postcards throughout the years. The scene of the P400 Miura on the printed postcard is worthy of a podium finish in any art contest.

Diecast Model The Miura became an instant suc- cess, and all major diecast model car

companies had to have one. Thus, within a few years after its debut, the Miura could be found in a multitude of variants from numerous model car makers. Some of these models could turn their front wheels, some could open their doors, and some would allow you to look at the engine and front compartments. These examples are simple compared to the detail of today’s diecast models, but they’re still admired as works of art.

Locker Identification Tag Imagine locking your door in the fac- tory locker room after a long day assembling Lamborghinis. Just as you're about to slide the keys into your pocket, the key tag grabs your attention, reminding you how special your job is. My key tag belonged to locker number 482 and had most likely spent several years returning to the factory on a proud factory worker’s keychain.

Manuals From the looks of it, the original owner of this Countach LP400 S man- ual didn't need to consult it all that often. He probably knew what he needed to get going and keep the car running, but had he wondered, he would only have needed to read a few passages in this literary description of his masterpiece of a car. Not too many of these were made.

Lamborghini was revived in 1980 when the Mimran brothers took over the company and established Nuova Automobili Ferruccio Lamborghini SpA. Since putting the full company name on the gloves would have been tricky, they shortened it to Nuova Lamborghini for this piece of the tool kit, a name that delighted many Lamborghini enthusiasts.

A Modern Collectable Let's move to current times in my collection and push the right button. To fire up the V10 of the Huracán, a firm push on this airplane style but- ton is just the thing. The shape fol- lows the design language of the rest of the car, and the button looks right at home in the center console. Too bad I don't have the rest of the car! As you can see, collectibles vary a

great deal, as do an individual’s unique interests. The monetary value of the various items is generally quite high, but, as with most things in life, the real value lies within. I hope you have enjoyed this journey through everything Lamborghini, and I hope your red Countach model car is not sold when you return to buy it.

Sincerely, Kaare Byberg - Norway
