Member Survey Summary
Social media plays a big role in our everyday lives – whether it’s catching up with friends and family, reading the latest celebrity gossip, sharing photos of our lives, or getting updates on all the local and national news, social media makes it easier than ever to stay connected. Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube are a few online platforms that APT uses to engage with our members and increase public awareness. These platforms are a great resource, but they are also constantly changing and adjusting to meet the needs of its users. Therefore, the 2018 Annual Member Survey had a special focus on our members’ social media preferences. We asked typical membership-related questions, such as referral likelihood and service satisfaction, and with which social media platforms members were most actively engaged, and whether they followed APT on Facebook or Twitter. Here are some of the results: Respondents indicated they were actively engaged on: • Facebook (70%) • Instagram (24%) • Twitter (13%) • Other platforms (e.g., Snapchat, Pinterest, and LinkedIn, 7%)
About 43% of respondents said that they follow us on Facebook- and about 11% follow us on both Facebook and Twitter. Members would like to see APT post more on social media about: • Mental health and play therapy news • Branch highlights • Events and trainings • Relevant video content
Survey participants included Baby Boomers (born 1946 – 1964) with 40%, Generation X (born 1965-1978) at 33% and Millennials (born 1979 membership) surpassed the number of “Subscribers” (members who (58% and 42%, respectively). Overall membership satisfaction has also consistently increased year to year.
The 2018 survey generated exciting feedback, and we thank the members who participated and contributed their
thoughts and
suggestions! Like play therapists with their clients and their families, APT becomes more attuned and connected with its members when we co-construct shared goals around common interests. Your participation in our Annual Member Survey helps us to meet you where you are to better promote play therapy and play therapists everywhere.
