This video, produced as part of the American Psychological Association’s Psychotherapy video series features Athena Drewes describing and modeling the Prescriptive Integrative Approach to Play Therapy with a client in middle childhood. The video begins with a question and answer session that helps unpack the theoretical underpinnings and core principals of the Prescriptive Integrative Approach. Dr. Drewes then gives a live demonstration of a therapy session with a child actor    management. Finally, the panel reviews various clips of work from the session with a view towards understanding what goals were being accomplished at various points in the session and how the techniques employed throughout session brought movement towards these goals. Dr. Drewes’ wealth of knowledge and kind, respectful presence with the


client are clear throughout the video. Most impressive is her ability to articulate why she is doing what she is doing at every point in session, a critical skill for developing clinicians to see modeled. This video would  alike and a great teaching tool for students.
