Community Advocacy on the Run

Last fall, CAI-Illinois laced up for something new— and the response exceeded every expectation. Our inaugural Community Advocacy on the Run Family 5K brought together a mix of runners, walkers, families, and supporters, all advocating for community associations across Illinois.

Mark your calendars: the 2026 Family 5K will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at the Ginger Creek Pavillion in Oak Brook and we are planning for an even bigger and better event.

This year, we’re expecting increased attendance, more teams, and an even stronger show of support for CAI-IL’s legislative advocacy efforts. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun way to spend the morning with colleagues, friends, or family, this event offers something for everyone.

Participants can once again look forward to a variety of ways to get involved and compete, including:

• Business Partner Challenge • Management Company Challenge • Community Association Challenge • Age-Group Medal Categories

These categories bring out a fun and friendly competitive spirit while encouraging organizations and communities to rally their teams and show their support.

Back by popular demand, we’re also excited to announce the return of the T-shirt Design Contest! This is your chance to get creative and leave your mark on this year’s event. Whether you’re an artist or

just have a great idea, we encourage you to submit a design and help shape the look and feel of race day.

Beyond the race itself, the event continues to serve a meaningful purpose. Proceeds support CAI-Illinois’ ongoing legislative advocacy—ensuring that community associations have a strong voice in Springfield. By participating, you’re not just showing up—you’re making a difference.

If last year was any indication, this is more than just a 5K. It’s a celebration of community, collaboration, and commitment.

Start forming your teams, brainstorming your T-shirt designs, and getting ready to hit the ground running. We can’t wait to see you at the starting line on October 3! Sponsorship and attendee registration will be available soon.
