Two of the fullblood Savanna bucks that have helped build Double B Goat Farm’s quality herd are ITG C-30 “Bo” (left) and RDP PokerFace.

DNA testing so that would know what we had so that would never happen again. Our whole herd today is parent-verified and DNA- tested as far back as we could go.

In 2017 we partnered with Homer and Gail Daniel to form the

South African Savanna Group (SAS), where we acquired ITG C-30 AKA Bo. We did an embryo flush at B&D Genetics in Arkansas and

had a homerun. We used ITG Bo and DLR Husani II Big Shot (AI buck from DLR Husani/DLR Chiuna which all went back to original imports) to live cover does and used some semen and got 91 embryos. We used 41 embryos and got 38 fullblood Savanna kids on the ground to start rebuilding. In 2018 we used some of the embryos and got three amazing bucks out of that project. I still have frozen em- bryos from the project and hopefully soon I will be using them. Unfortunately, in late 2018, due to health reasons, we acquired full ownership of the SAS partnership and all genetic material and embryos. We have since developed our herd, focusing on creating animals that can thrive in any breeding program. Our selection process em- phasizes bone structure, depth, length and muscle mass, ensuring the health and hardiness of our animals. As meat goat producers and Sa- vanna breeders, we prioritize raising healthy animals that can thrive in pasture environments.

I am proud of our accomplishments, including the successful Savanna Show Stopper Sale in 2022 and 2024, which offered top- tier Savannas to the public with an amazing group of fellow breeders and making history as the top Savanna sale in the U.S. We have sold Savannas across the U.S. and have also exported several to the Bahamas. I’m so grateful to Brittany Scott from Smart Repo for all the amazing opportunities she has put forth and we have been able to participate in.

Robby and I extend our gratitude to everyone who has purchased animals from us. We look forward to many more years of success.

*Later DNA testing confirmed that the Savanna buck 553 was just 50%. As a result, some of his most prominent male offspring — including 637, 440 and 441 — were lowered to 75% Savanna. As a result, Donna’s herdsire, Lugg- nutt, a son of 637, was revalued as 88%, thus downgrading most of her breeding stock as 50% to 94%.
