Leveraging Technology to

t often takes a village to accomplish genuine success; run- ning a quality investor relations (IR) program is no different. Mastering IR requires partnerships with outside vendors,
who should be integrated into the daily practice of investor relations. When leveraging the appropriate technologies,
efficiency can improve exponentially. Tis article lays out key relationships and technologies that fit
into any IR program, regardless of sector. Both new and experienced IROs can benefit from these tools and vendor relationship tips. We begin with the vital tactical components of the IR function:
1. Report the company’s financials and manage external disclo- sure of key metrics. Te role of IR is to tell a story that highlights the investment thesis and resonates with investors, providing them with a fair view of the company’s business and financial objectives. As part of this, they should regularly inform “the Street”

on a quarterly cadence of key performance and business metrics. 2. Manage sell-side relationships. Te sell side has the ability to amplify company voices. IROs should manage the sell-side relationship and monitor consensus to ensure analysts have a fair and accurate understanding of the facts that highlight the value proposition. 3. Provide feedback and competitive intelligence to manage- ment and the Board of Directors. While reporting out is a key part of the role, IR has the unique ability to serve as a feedback loop to management and the board. Responding to feedback and benchmarking disclosure and performance against peers are criti- cal elements to the company’s continuous improvement but can seem like a full-time job in and of itself. 4.
