At the end of March, the board gathered for our annual retreat. This is a weekend that the WSCA board sets aside to discuss and wrestle with how we can best keep our association healthy and how we can best serve the chiropractors of Washington state. It is a planning and problem- solving weekend filled with long discussions


that can have moments of deep conviction, compelling statements, and genuine concern for the topic at hand. Everyone is engaged, searching for the right direction or action, and all are inspired to make the WSCA better.


I walked away from this year’s retreat with genuine appreciation for the great doctors we have on our board and even more broadly in our association. I was also proud of the absent board members who were busy serving the chiropractic profession or the communities that they live in. We are a profession truly filled with remarkable people. Our association is filled with different personalities, interests, and areas of expertise, yet we are all together in our battle to improve the health of those we serve through the different approaches or techniques we decide to use.


The WSCA needs the engagement and support of all chiropractors in Washington. A united and diverse group is a stronger group. If we paint the word picture of building a bonfire, and the members are the logs on the fire, 700 ‘logs on the fire’ is better than 500 and 1100 ‘logs on the fire’ creates a bigger fire and therefore more heat and light than 800. Take a log away and set it on fire and it burns for a while but the heat and light it produces by itself is limited. Hopefully, you get the point. The more of us that come together the more that we can accomplish. We can make an impact on the state of health in our corner of the world with all of us together under the umbrella of chiropractic.


We are actively looking to provide resources to all chiropractors, knowing that all practices are a bit different. The WSCA has some great events and practice resources that we are putting together in the near future, so keep your eyes open for some of these new opportunities. I would like to encourage you to get engaged, recruit a fellow chiropractor to join the WSCA, support the upcoming WSCA events and our corporate members, and remember the future of chiropractic and the WSCA is bright with you on board.
