Lifetime Achievement Award For outstanding lifetime achievement that develops, promotes, or advances the value of play, play therapy, or credentialed play therapists.
Rick Gaskill, EdD, LCPC, RPT-S, worked in mental health and taught at Wichita State University for years. He was a Child Trauma Academy Fellow and named to Wichita State University Hall of Fame. He has published and lectured regarding trauma, neuroscience,
and play therapy in the USA, Canada, and Australia.
APT Service Award For remarkable organizational service and contributions to APT, its Foundation for Play Therapy, and/or its chartered branches that therapy, and credentialed play therapists.
Dalena Dillman Taylor, PhD, LPC, LMHC, RPT, is an associate professor at the University of Central Florida where she directs the PLAY lab
Taylor has been active in areas of research, teaching, and service, with over 40 scholarly works in refereed and/or peer-reviewed
Student Research Award For outstanding research by graduate or doctoral students that therapy, and credentialed play therapists.
The adult public's perception of the utility of play therapy
Margaret Hindman, PhD, LPC, RPT, is a remote Assistant Professor at St. Bonaventure University who counsels part-time at a Title 1 school. She advocates through researching effective ways to teach the public about play therapy. She serves
on APT’s Ethics and Research committees and is an Arkansas APT

Congratulations 2022 Awards of Excellence recipients! These awards are designed to honor members who best represent the collective values of the play therapy community. Nominations for the 2022 Awards were evaluated by the Awards of Excellence committee, chaired by Kathleen Levingston, PhD, LPC-S, RPT-S.
Emerging Leader Service Award This honor is awarded to a member fully licensed for 10 years or less for exceptional organizational service to APT, its Foundation develops, promotes, or advances the value of play, play therapy, and credentialed play therapists.
Mary Affee, EdD, LCSW, RPT-S, is an adjunct professor at Molloy University, where she teaches Play Therapy and Expressive Arts Therapy. As the newly appointed President for the North Carolina Association for Play Therapy, Dr. Affee
hopes to continue to create awareness for age-appropriate and culturally appropriate treatment for children, teens, families, and communities.
Research Award promotes, or advances the value of play, play therapy, and credentialed play therapists.

Elizabeth Burgin,
PhD, LPC, is Assistant Professor at William & Mary; Daniel Gutierrez, PhD, LPC, NCC, is Associate Professor at William
& Mary; Peggy Ceballos, PhD, NCC, is Associate Professor and Counseling Program Coordinator at the University of North Texas; and Natalya Lindo, PhD, LPC, is Professor and Counseling and Higher Education Department Chair at the
University of North Texas.
