Mandy Whitacre Ice Instructor
City of St. Peters-Rec Plex St. Peters, Mo.
An ice instructor for 17 years at City of St. Peters- Rec Plex in St. Peters, Mo., Mandy Whitacre has a middle school teaching background in science and has served as an ice show costume coordinator.
Serving as an ISI field representative is a natural fit for Mandy. “My passion for ISI is evident at my rink,” she says. “I’m very involved in the program and I love participating in as many ISI events as I can during the year, with or without students. I have recently been working with my own rink to develop an ISI team/ club to bolster even more participation with ISI.
“I love talking about the program and its benefits to all skaters, and the ISI field representative position sounded like the perfect opportunity to spread the word about ISI to even more people!”
Mandy is looking forward to talking to and poten- tially meeting people from all over the United States as she shares the value of the ISI program.
She learned ISI’s skating curriculum during her sopho- more year of college so she could teach at the local rink. Prior to that, she had only known the U.S. Figure
Skating curriculum. “ISI’s curriculum is logical and straightforward,” she says. “I was able to train to be an instructor utilizing ISI’s wealth of resources accessible to all instructors. I have been able to build my diverse skating business due to ISI’s broad-reaching program. I teach tots, adults, special needs students and hockey players. Students can compete locally or nationally — the sky’s the limit with ISI, and I love that!”
Mandy will serve as a resource for ISI districts 1 and 6-9. She can be reached at Mandy@skateisi.org.
