Living Oak Farm pure Spanish Goat herd in South Carolina

of the Spanish Goat Breed and cannot meet the demand for our Liv- ing Oak Farm Southeastern-adapted genetics.

One of the greatest concerns of the conservationists of the Spa- nish Goat Breed is that producers looking for short-term profits will continue to grow and outnumber the conservationist breeders. The drive to compete with commercial meat producers will justify the push for “bigger is better” with feed, ignoring the negative influence of management systems and will fail to eliminate subpar genetics. The concern is that at some point these practices by enough pro- ducers will influence adaptability and survivability of the breed. Again, we find ourselves holding onto a vision, exercising hard work and a bit of faith in committed breeders to continue the work of safe- guarding the diversity of the Spanish Goat Breed. Perspective Spanish goat buyers are encouraged to come to the buying arena educated and prepared to ask the questions of sellers

that will bring them the results they seek. Whether it is commercial success or success as a seed stock producer, make sure you are getting the genetics you are looking for. The Spanish Goat Association, Auctions, DNA Registry, Advi- sory Board, Breeders and the Breeder Partners of Spanish Goats LLC want to take this opportunity to applaud and express gratitude for all that have supported our efforts to safeguard the diverse genetics of the Pure Spanish Goat Breed. We hope to see you in Tennessee at the Spanish Goat Gathering and/or in Texas at the Spanish Goat Roundup. Please pre-register through the website: www.spanish- goatsllc.com.
