County came together for a common purpose. Teir goal: to underscore the vital role that safety plays on one of Southern California’s largest and most high-profile public works projects. Te May 2 safety week kickoff

Walsh/Shea Corridor Constructors (a design-build team comprising Walsh, Shea, HNTB, Comstock and ARUP) to highlight the importance of maintaining a safety culture. Fall prevention, heat illness awareness and fire prevention awareness were key topics addressed during a week of training, education and awareness activities at the project’s six main worksites. “We really take a comprehensive
approach to safety, and our philosophy is ‘speak up, listen up,’” said Erich Engler, Business Manager of Walsh/ Shea Corridor Constructors. “We want to make sure everyone’s concerns can be heard, from the first year apprentice to our lead project manager.” Te focus on safety and community

It will ultimately serve the cities of Los Angeles, Inglewood, Hawthorne, El Segundo, and portions of unincorpo- rated Los Angeles County. Te project features a variety
