Community Involvement Key on High Profile, $2.1 Billion Transit Extension in LA County

approach to safety, and our philosophy is ‘speak up, listen up,’” said Erich Engler, Business Manager of Walsh/ Shea Corridor Constructors. “We want to make sure everyone’s concerns can be heard, from the first year apprentice to our lead project manager.” Te focus on safety and community


awareness is ever present on the $2.1 billion (estimated total cost) Crenshaw/ LAX Transit project, which faces a host of logistical challenges to be expected on such a large construction project set in the middle of an active, heavily populated urban corridor. Encompassing eight stations


spread over 8.5 miles of light rail line, the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project stretches from the existing Metro Exposition Line at Crenshaw and Exposition Boulevards to Metro Green Line’s Aviation/LAX Station. It will ultimately serve the cities of Los Angeles, Inglewood, Hawthorne, El Segundo, and portions of unincorpo- rated Los Angeles County. Te project features a variety


of different project components built using an array of construction methods. Tey include: an aerial
