AGC Legacy Award Winners Honored A


GC of California unveiled its all-new Legacy Awards during Construct 2021, honoring longtime member companies


who have shown a sustained commitment to the industry and AGC. This year’s awards celebrated 10 iconic companies who started with AGC from the 1920s to 1940. Graniterock Since 1923, Graniterock has been a leader on various AGC platforms. The company has been represented at the high- est level at AGC, with John Franich serving as President in 2005. Vulcan Materials Company/West Region As the nation’s largest producer of construction aggregates and a major producer of other construction materials, Vulcan Materials is one of AGC’s longest-standing associate members. Griffith Company A founding member of the AGC Southern California chapter, Griffith Com- pany has been integral to AGC and California’s growth. A longtime supporter of the Construc- tion Education Foundation, Build California and more, AGC past presidents from Griffith include Jaimie Angus, Tom Foss, George Grif- fith and others. Teichert Aggregates One of the nation’s larg- est aggregates producers, Teichert Aggregates has expansive expertise and promotes safety as a core value. An early associate member of AGC of California, Teichert Aggregates continue to engage and participate in AGC programing. Irish Construction A member since 1933, Irish Construction (formerly E.A. Irish Contractors) was founded in 1919 by Edwin Irish who pio- neered the installation of underground conduit systems. The company is a strong supporter of AGC with representatives having served in myriad leadership positions. J.F. Shea Construction Company, Inc. One of the nation’s largest and oldest privately held construction and real estate companies, J.F. Shea Construction Company has been an AGC

member since 1933. Representatives have served in top leadership roles at AGC including as President. Independent Construction Company Founded in 1910 and an AGC member since 1936, Independent Construction is a committed supporter of workforce development programs including Build California and is engaged with AGC’s UCC and HR forum. Representatives have served in leadership roles including as President. Underground Construction Company, Inc. Since 1937, Underground Construction has been a dedicated member and remains active today including serving on AGC’s CEF, UCC and craft negotiations. Representatives from Underground have chaired district boards and served as President of the association. Holt of California Holt of California has earned their reputation as a leader in the equipment solutions market. An AGC member since 1940, Holt remains committed to industry advance- ment through their work and their association partnership. Teichert Construction Adolph Teichert’s construction legacy lives on in the company his father started in 1887. Teichert was instrumen- tal in establishing the association that later became the Northern California chapter of AGC and was a founding member of AGC of America. Employees continue to be active in many areas of AGC.
