Opportunity to Learn and Grow Construct 2021 offered ample oppor- tunities for participants to learn and connect, with a special focus on the many students in attendance. A student chapter job fair and several educational sessions were specifically tailored to the next generation workforce, with topics ranging from “developing your personal and professional brand” to “technology and innovation in construction.” Several seminars also targeted AGC
Emerging Leaders (formerly CLC). Te newly rebranded AGC Emerging Leaders program, which was officially launched at Construct 2021, is designed to educate, connect and engage entry to mid-level construction professionals. During its issue-packed State Board

GC of California and Procore have teamed up to offer a world-class leadership development experience,
safety and damage prevention in California, led by speakers Tony Marino, California Underground Facilities Safety Excavation Board, and Michael Worster, California Regional Common Ground Alliance. Te Highway & Transportation Di- vision meeting featured a lively and informative panel discussion on the growing use of drones on the jobsite, with construction ranked as the top industry utilizing them. Moderated by Ural Yal, Flatiron Construction, the discussion included Devin Porr, chief of the Caltrans Office of Performance & Innovation, and Jono Millen, co-founder of DroneDeploy. “We are fully embracing this technol- ogy as an immense tool that can help us internally from a safety standpoint and an efficiency standpoint,” commented Porr. Later, a joint AGC Student Chapter / High- way & Transportation Division seminar showcasing a DroneDeploy Demo and reality capture overview was a big draw. Te Building Division brought togeth- er a panel of venture capital experts to discuss how investment in construction technology startups is driving innovation and advances in the industry. Hensel Phelps Director of Virtual Design and Construction, Tai Nguyen, moderated the informative discussion. Various AGC committees and councils also held meetings during Construct to discuss leading issues and plan and strategize for the year ahead.
Network Building Opportunities In addition to the meetings, Expo and edu- cational offerings, Construct 2021 featured several social and networking events, in- cluding a Welcome Reception presented by HCSS Software Solutions and the AGC Bash presented by Autodesk Construction Cloud.
