Griffith Company Griffith Company structures its summer internship program to be a two to three month long intensive learning experience that exposes college students to heavy civil construction estimating, project management, field operations and other key inner workings of the company’s business. This summer the company hired 21 interns to work in its four offices and at several project sites. Griffith Company executives and its

management team are heavily invested in the program, which is one of the keys to its success according to Ron Roberts, Jr., recruitment, and public relations specialist.

“Our CEO, Jaimie Angus, and Exec-

utive Vice President, Ryan Aukerman, provide a welcome, company overview and advice at all our summer intern ori- entations, and both executives also host one-on-one learning sessions with each of our summer interns. Tis investment carries on through the commitments that our Division and Region managers make to host interns each summer and to provide them a challenging experience,” Roberts said. Te variety and quality of the learning

experiences that Griffith provides its in- terns is another factor in the program’s success, he added. Interns are exposed to the company’s many business facets through job site visits, virtual sessions with all division managers, field learning labs, a dedicated day of training, access to mentors and more. At the end of the program interns are asked to deliver

“It is our hope that at the end of our summer internship, students will obtain enough exposure to our company and industry to make an informed decision as to whether or not our company and a career in heavy civil construction is suited to them.”
