Clark Construction Group Named Design-Build Contractor for New SDSU Stadium

San Diego State University recently announced its selection of

AGC-member firm Clark Construction Group to design and build the university’s new 35,000-capacity multi-use stadium in Mission Valley. Clark was awarded the approximately $250 million contract in late February, and is slated to begin construction in early 2020. Te project is slated for completion in time for the start of the 2022 NCAA football season. Clark Construction and SDSU will go through a joint selection

process for the stadium architect. Clark Construction has built extensive sports projects in the San Diego area including Petco Park and the Rose Bowl renovation, as well as other projects such as the Naval Hospital at Camp Pendleton and the SDSU Engineering and Interdisciplinary Sciences building, which opened in 2018. According to SDSU, Clark will proceed with the design and planning

for the new stadium, concurrent with the university’s negotiations with the City of San Diego to purchase the land, and the development of the Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the complete SDSU Mission Valley development.
