AGRIBUSINESS OF THE YEAR KILDEE FARMS
KIM ATKINS PHOTOGRAPHY.
The Brown Family operates a 95-acre farm in Culpeper County. The name, Kildee, originates from its original owners. The Brown’s children are the fourth generation farmers on the land. Wayne Brown’s father purchased the farm and some surrounding land, totalling 289 acres in the 1940s after World War II. In the 1950s, Brown recalled, his father started milking cows and building a parlor in 1955. Years later, Brown and his wife, Joyce, bought the farm only for them to see many years of draught. The farm has three working barns fi lled with antique tools, equipment and livestock. The property also has an event venue for weddings or other celebrations.
