cutting-edge surgeons to the county, improving the overall quality of care that residents can receive at their local hospitals. “Providing robotic-assisted surgical
care to our patients greatly improves their recovery and allows them to return to living their healthiest lives sooner,” said UVA Health Culpeper Medical Center’s Dr. Leonardo Espinel. Faced with competition from hospitals
from Richmond to Northern Virginia, it’s a feat to keep up with medical advancements for the wellbeing of residents. It’s a challenge that both local medical institutions meet everyday. “Keeping our patients in their
community for all of their care is an important part of UVA Health’s strategic goal to provide access to the highest-quality and safest care to our community,” said UVA Community Health COO Donna Staton.
Fauquier Health On track to celebrate its 100th year,
Fauquier Health opened its doors as a 20 bed hospital on February 26, 1925. Te
first hospital in Fauquier occupied the "Garner House," purchased for $14,000, and located at 32 Waterloo St., Warrenton. Te hospital became known as Fauquier County Hospital. Over the next few decades, the hospital
transferred ownership numerous times and grew in size. In 1954, the hospital leadership invested in a General Electric 300-MA X-ray machine. It wasn't until April 1956 when hospital hill was chosen as the new location for the hospital. By the end of 1958, aſter years of
fundraising and construction, the founders relocated the hospital and its patients to a newly built, state-of-the-art facility where the hospital resides today. Fast forward to the present: Fauquier
Health is now a 97-bed acute care hospital offering surgical services, a 24-hour emergency department, extensive medical
imaging capabilities, an intensive care unit and more. Te Fauquier Health system offers patient care for a variety of specialty services, including orthopedics and spine, a cardiac catheterization lab and robotic- assisted surgery. Te fourth floor of the hospital is devoted to a family birthing center and intermediate care nursery. Te hospital staff continues to push
medical boundaries with robotic surgeries, cutting-edge cancer centers and specially- trained staff to complement the latest technology. Fauquier Health has spent more than $30 million over the years on capital improvements, including technology. Fauquier Health also introduced the
Smith+Nephew LEAF Patient Monitoring System in July 2022. Te system measures and transmits patient orientation and position data to staff, preventing pressure injuries. Fauquier Health also includes the
Fauquier Health Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Te Villa at Suffield Meadows assisted living facility, the Wellness Center and the Wound Healing Center and the Sleep Center.
