New Year, New Changes for MBA VEBA By Joyce Kennedy, Manager of Insurance Services


MBA VEBA was created by Missouri bankers to serve Missouri bankers and has been doing so for more than 40 years. So, what’s new with MBA VEBA for 2022? MBA VEBA is pleased to announce that it has implemented the Anthem network for 2022 for its medical plans. Te Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Network includes a broad spectrum of doctors, specialists, hospitals, pharmacies, labs and urgent care centers not only in Missouri but beyond our state for those employers hiring outside of Missouri.


Also new to the medical plan is the change to top-tier pharmacy benefits provider OptumRx. OptumRx has large national chain and local pharmacy coverage. Members continue to have the ability to obtain 90-day prescriptions at retail, which help keep those prescription purchases in your local community.


In addition to a new network and pharmacy benefit manager, MBA VEBA has added the Livongo for Diabetes Program. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 26.9 million people are diagnosed with diabetes in the U.S. Tis voluntary program provides members diagnosed with diabetes a connected glucose meter, unlimited test strips and expert coaching at no additional cost to members and covered dependents with diabetes. We have heard testimonials from users of the Livongo program that the connected glucose meter can be a life saving tool.


MBA VEBA’s medical plans also continue to provide some great group standard programs, such as 24/7 telemedicine through Teladoc, as well as no or low cost for qualifying lab services through QuestSelect (formerly Labcard).


If your employees like to keep their pearly whites in top shape, check out our dental plans. MBA VEBA uses Delta Dental for providers, and you will find MBA VEBA dental benefits to be nicely comprehensive with a $2,000 annual maximum benefit. For those wanting to keep their eyes in check, MBA VEBA offers reasonably priced vision coverage through United Healthcare Vision.


We would like to remind you how disability income insurance can help your employees protect a percentage of their income should they become too sick or hurt to work and ask about group long-term disability insurance that your bank offers to its employees. Most products in the marketplace are any- occupation policies that typically provide benefits under an own-occupation clause for the first two years of disability and benefits under an any-occupation clause thereaſter.
