Life of CEM Summer Interns

My name is Ann Rose Conner and I am a rising sophomore at Erskine College. I have wanted to intern for Christian Education Ministries with Brent Turner for a couple years because interning for CEM would let me participate in one of the things I love most about being a part of my denomination: the summers for the youth. I grew up going to Quest and Horizon, Appalachia, Family Bible Conference, and Camp Joy and these are experiences where I remember building foundational relationships with my church and denominational family and learning more about my God and faith. I am now two weeks away from the end of the internship and as I process the past six weeks, I am so thankful to

still be a part of these experiences for people who are currently in our denomination’s youth. I helped on work crew for Quest and Horizon. Camp Joy I helped sell merchandise and served as a floater. During Appalachia, I worked with Clover ARPC during the day and put together slides for the evening sessions. Getting to serve the people who run these programs like Ms. Ann, Bob Elliot, Miranda, and the speakers is such a unique experience too, because I have gained a new appreciation for the hours they put in behind the scenes and daily problems they take care of in a heartbeat to help the camps go smoothly. It means you live out of your car, running from Bonclarken to Greenville to Tazewell, Tennessee. At the end of the day, you are weary and have little sleep and a lot of time serving and loving people, which is an especially sanctifying combination. I have appreciated the rhythms of pouring out during the day, and being poured into at night, whether at sessions for Quest, Horizon, and Appala- chia, or the constant community and teaching from Camp Joy and Family Bible Conference. I am thankful to have been ministered to by the most kind and gracious people and the beauty of Creation, both of which have been tangible means of God’s faithfulness to me.?

My name is Anna Bowker. I have been interning with Christian Educa-

tion Miniseries for the past two summers. I have enjoyed my time with CEM. I have built many relationships with different people and have many fond memories of my time spent with CEM. My favorite part of the summer is being able to help with Camp Joy. Being able to laugh, share a dance, and sing at the top of my lungs with the special friends we have at Camp Joy is a pleasure. This year being able to work with Horizon and Quest through work

crew and being part of Appalachia Mission has helped me to grow in my relationship with the Lord. I have been able to work behind the scenes and have the opportunity to build relationships that will last a lifetime through this experience. I am thankful that I have the oppor- tunity to work with Brent Turner and Ann Rose Conner while serving Jesus this summer. I have learned a lot throughout the two summers of working with CEM, and I am thankful for this opportunity.?
