Busyness Busyness

 - petually busy, weary and burdened, and wishing for rest? Is the routine of life sometimes so overwhelming that you wish for deep, satisfying refreshment and rest?


While I don’t think the Bible ever commends busyness for its own


oes it seem as if the sum- mer came and went in such a rush that it left you exhausted? For many, espe- cially families whose schedules are tied to the school calendar, summer is anticipated as a time       slower pace of life. But very often, even vacations leave us weary, so that we wish for a few extra days to recover from our time away! Then, all of sudden, summer is over. Vacations are behind us and  and even some grandparents, get back into the routine of transport- ing kids to school, attending pro- ductions and sports activities, and looking ahead to Thanksgiving and Christmas and the rush of the holidays. Whatever season of the

 Jesus was ever about His Father’s business. John 4 records an occasion   Meanwhile the disciples were urging Him, saying, Rabbi, eat.’ But He said to them, ‘I have food to eat that you do not know about.’ So the disciples said to one another, ‘Has anyone brought Him something to eat?’ Jesus said to them, ‘My food is to do the will of Him Who sent Me and to accomplish His work. busyness of His ministry, doing His Father’s will was nourishing and satisfying for Jesus!


But, it is important for us to remember that Jesus, who was and is true God and true man, in two distinct natures and one person, was nour- ished and strengthened not only by engaging in the work of His Father, but also through times of solitude and prayer. Early in His ministry, as - But now even more the report about Him went abroad, and great crowds gathered to hear  places and pray. which was like food to Him, Jesus still needed times of solitude that He might seek the face of His Father in prayer. 
