met on how to make improvements and how to increase membership. Our Contribution Fund Committee met and discussed how to get more shows in- volved in this program.
In addition to committees spend- ing time on financial issues, our Circle of Excellence Committee met, and our Board voted to add pre-qualifier im- provements to the program related to drug testing, background checks and mobile housing improvements. Our Safety Committee met and discussed im- portant issues, and our Education/VOLT Committee met on ramping this program up. As you can see, there is so much that our organization spends time on making improvements for the greater good of this industry. While H2B is an important
focus, it is not the only thing that we do. Please note that all our Board members volunteer major time and money to support our industry. This is what we all sign up for when we volunteer to be on the Board. This is in addition to us all having full time jobs in this business. To those reading this who have sup- ported the OABA in the past, or haven’t, we need you to support the organiza- tion or increase your support now more than ever. If you question whether the money is worth it or have any questions at all, please contact me, Greg Chiecko or any other Board member you know and we would be happy to explain further what we do to help. If you use H2B workers and you haven’t financially supported the cause, we need you to.
For those who are or were delayed in getting your workers, you know that you cannot afford to go through this every year. For those who don’t use H2B workers, like myself, think of the impact, both directly and indirectly, of the shows that are forced to consider cancelling events and downsizing if they don’t have enough workers to run their operations. We need money to continue the fight and attempt to get a permanent solution. We need your sup- port now more than ever for H2B and many other issues that you face every day. Your business, and our industry’s livelihood, as we know it, depends on it. I hope everyone has a great season and enjoys great weather. Thank you.
