MEET THE KVMA AUBURN STUDENT CHAPTER OFFICERS

President - Shelby Ackermann Hello! My name is Shelby Ackermann, and I am a member of the AUCVM

Class of 2025 serving as the President of the KVMA Student Chapter. I grew up on our family farm in rural Sparta, Kentucky where I spent my child- hood riding horses and participating in 4-H. I completed my undergraduate education at Western Kentucky University (Go Tops!) where I received my Bachelor of Science in biology, and I am currently pursuing both my DVM and MPH degrees. My current interests within veterinary medicine include emergency and disaster medicine, as well as working with underserved popu- lations to increase access to veterinary care and health equity.

Vice President – Noah Canady

Hello everyone! My name is Noah Canady, and I am the Vice President of the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association Student Chapter. I am a first-year veterinary student at Auburn University, and I am from Harlan County, Ken- tucky. I attended Lincoln Memorial University for my undergraduate studies where I attained my Bachelors in Veterinary Health Science. I am passionate about both veterinary medicine and my home state, and I am very excited to get this student chapter going!

Secretary – Zach Wriedt

Hi there! My name is Zach Wriedt, and I am currently serving as the secretary for the student KVMA chapter. I am from Union, KY about 10 minutes from the “Florence Y’all” water tower! I received my Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor of chemistry from Western Kentucky University. Go TOPs! Currently I am interested in specializing in small animal internal medicine; however, I am still considering also working at a small animal general practi- tioner.

Tird Year Class Representative – Grace Jones

My name is Grace Jones, and I am the third-year representative for the stu- dent chapter. Originally from Scottsville I attended Gatton Academy and continued my undergraduate education at WKU to graduate with a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry. As a vet student I have tried to visit numerous clinics not only in Kentucky but in surrounding areas which encourages me to keep studying on long nights and provides insight into the current changes in this career. It was the fall of second year that I attended the KVMA conference and started creating the Student Chapter with the help of everyone at KVMA. I am so excited to see what opportunities will arise and ideas the officer team will have. While I cannot dedicate as much time to the chapter, I am excited to be heading into my clinical year! As graduation draws closer, I hope to pur- sue mixed animal medicine and eventually build and own my own clinic. In my free time I enjoy camping and hiking with my dog as well as swimming on the Auburn University Masters Swim Team. My teammates range from twen- ty-five years old to seventy-five and they serve as a great reminder that I am capable of anything I set my mind to and have often encouraged me through the grueling times of vet school.
