KVMA Executive Board Minutes - August, 2021 Call to Order: In Attendance: Debra Hamelback, Wade King, Jason Rodgers, Brigette Dean-Hines, Dr. Ben Redmon, Dr. Katie Flynn, Dr. Lauren Mirus
Welcome new members: Dr. Matt McGlassson, Northern KY; Dr. Stephanie Cerue, Lincoln Trail; Dr. Lauren Turley, West Central
Previous Minutes: Motion to approve by Dr. Ben Redmon, second by Jason Rodgers. Passed.
REPORTS Financial report was presented.
KVMA Membership Applications. Motion by Dr. Lauren Mirus to approve applications. Second Dr. Brigette Dean-Hines. Passed.
Dr. Katie Flynn - Veterinary loan repayment. Applications are due by September 6, 2021. It is a lengthy process. Dr. Alex Hagen agreed to help applicants if they have any questions. Can find information and areas with shortage of veterinarians online.
KBVE Education/Outreach • Joint talks with constituent groups along with the KVMA. Consider meeting places in your area (extension offices). Will offer 2 hours CE for meeting attendance.
• Adapted a new policy for shelters regarding allowable drugs for euthanasia specialists. Veterinarians at shel- ters who need to refresh their knowledge about DEA requirements for storing, logs, and access to the drugs used under their DEA registration.
KBVE - Provide a draft statute to KVMA. KVMA will need an evaluation panel by October 15, 2021, to discuss changes to the Practice Act.
We are ready for Mid-America.
Dr. Jason Rodgers, President-Elect: Updates on MAVC • We have video recorder to record Small Animal A, Small Animal B, Equine and Food Animal. Recordings will be available after the conference.
• We need moderators for rooms. Board retreat will be November 5 -6, 2021. Location TBD.
Our CPA is retiring. Debra Hamelback and Dr. Wade King are in the process of establishing business with a new CPA in the Frankfort/Lexington area. We hope to have a name at the next business meeting being held during the MAVC.
Motion by Dr. Jason Rodgers, seconded by Dr. Brigette Dean-Hines. I move to sponsor $1,000 hole at the Ken- tucky Farm Bureau Gold Scramble being held Sept 27, 2021, at the Quail Chase Gold Course. Passed.
Te KVMA Foundation Clay shoot will be held Oct. 6, 2021 at Elk Creek in Owenton, KY. Elanco is sponsoring the luncheon. Health Insurance - New AVMA PLIT provider was discussed. Community Brands member benefit revenue. KVMA retains 100% of e-commerce revenue Would like to work on a new associate check list and would like volunteers following the MAVC.
AUCVM USDA Rural Veterinary KY reception will be held Friday evening at the MAVC. Invitations have been sent to practitioners/clinics in underserved areas to discuss the program.
AVMA Report House - Changes in campaign rules for officers. • Dr. Carlson - President-Elect • Dr. Quammen - possibly running for Vice President • 97,000 AVMA members • AAHA & AVMA - guidelines on telehealth • Veterinary Economic Summit will be held October 14-16, 2021
